Who?
Fran Currie.
Where?
Bakesmiths, Bristol.
Fran Currie is one of our Foodies who always creates such tasty recipes using our protein powders, and what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than with a couple of mince pie protein balls?
Where did this idea come from?
Fran and her family LOVE mince pies so Fran wanted to incorporate the taste into a healthy protein snack. Trying to recreate that “Christmassy” taste we all know and love, Fran uses half an orange and a mix of cinnamon, all spice and nutmeg. At this time of year, these are Fran’s all-time favourites but she does make some mean chocolate protein balls too!
Not only are these mince pie protein balls a great post workout snack but they’re only 50 calories per ball! A normal mince pie is around a whopping 288 calories, so it’s a no brainer which one you’d go for this Christmas.
Fran’s super quick, super simple 5-minute recipe consists of:
- Oats
- Raisins
- Half a squeezed orange
- A mix of cinnamon, all spice and nutmeg (proper Christmas vibes!)
- Apricots
- SFN Vegan Vanilla Protein powder
Method:
Throw all ingredients into a food processor, add some water and blend until the texture is thick enough to create your own balls of Christmas.
Little tip! If you wet your hands before you start rolling, they won’t stick as much!
